The next room in the "After" house tour is the downstairs bathroom. This room was in pretty good condition and had a new tub, toilet, and sink when we moved in, so it didn't need much work. Lucky us.
It was just not so cute.
Remember how it looked before?
The main change we made was the paint color. After a lot of cleaning and a fresh coat of paint, here's how it looks:
The mirror is the same one that was already here. I just painted it white and distressed it.
I stole borrowed this plant stand from Mama's garden to hold our towels and TP because there is no storage in this bathroom. This works well for now to corral the necessities.
Mason Jar soap dispenser. You can make one, too.
Here's the shower curtain. I LOVE ruffles.
This old locker basket holds magazines.
There are still a few things that I'd still like to change in this room. The light fixture is in need of a update. I'm thinking about installing an iron chandelier. Fancy. I'd also like to spruce up the window a little, but I'm just not sure what to do.
Do you have windows in your bathroom? What do you do to them?
Melissa

I love the paint color and the plant stand for storage! ~ I have a huge picture window over my garden tub. In the beginning, I made my own curtain and had it hanging over the window. A couple of years later, Hubby surprised me with beautiful plantation shutters for it! I can open them, if I wish too. But, because my bathroom is easily seen from my driveway (yikes!), they are rarely opened!
ReplyDeletelooking great!
ReplyDeletei usually take pics with my olympus OUZ... it isn't a dslr, but i am looking into getting an upgrade :)
Mel, you guys are amazing! When I buy a house (if that ever happens:) I am hiring you and dave for as consultants on all decisions.
ReplyDeletelove the redo, ref. window....lightweight burlap or linen kinda matching the floor color would look great and add texture, you could also cover a roll up blind with the material for privacy. LOVE the mirror and black stand; sorry mom, but its a keeper for that bath.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, My best friend redid her bathroom and for her windows she put window film on them the bathroom has a bamboo type look. The dining room has a stain glass look. It's called Light Effects, go to www.Lighteffecs.com, she purchased this at either Lowe's or Homedepo. It really gives the bathroom a nice touch and was easy to do.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! My bathrooms are so small I feel limited with what I can do. Thanks for sharing the pics!

ReplyDeletewhy are my questions coming out as exclamations...lol...thanks...
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love the paint color and the locker basket!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a little paint can do. Love the transformation.
ReplyDeleteHey Guys,
ReplyDeleteTo answer your questions:
Paint color is Benjamin Moore's Feather Gray. And the grout was like this when we moved in...it's a tinted grout that you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot. We did have to replace some tiles and tried to match the grout color without much success. We bought grout paint (also called grout stain) to make the new grout match the existing. The paint is specially made to stain grout and comes with a tiny roller for application. It's an easy project!
Good Questions! mel
